Scope and Content: 
These are the records of the census done every ten (10) years by the Central Statistical Office. The first census of 1851 was actually a return of population figures for that year. The census of 1911 compiled results under headings such as Population, Sex Distribution, Birthplaces or Nationality, Occupations, Religious Persuasions, Education, Infirmities, Dwellings, Area and Density of population and Livestock. The census of 1900 was done under the headings of population by sex, Number of Households, Number of Dwellings, Dwelling Units, Institutions and Business Places. The Census of 1851 is the only manuscript copy and contains information on Port-of-Spain and Environs. See listing.
