The National Archives is pleased to partner with the Success Laventille Networking Committee (SLNC) & Ile Egbe Yemoja, National Library and Information Systems Authority, Emancipation Support Committee and The National Trust to present Yoruba Village - A Virtual Emancipation to African History Month Exhibition: "Legba Open the Door to Reconnection, Reclamation and Reparation". The exhibition was launched on September 13th, 2021 and continues until November 30th 2021.
This exhibition, "Yoruba Village", aims to tell the story of this outstanding community from Yoruba Village to Belmont, Gonzales, Laventille, and Morvant and back to Yoruba Village. It will explore and showcase the customs, and traditions of the dynamic kingdoms that existed in that space - Rada, Igbo, Kongo, Ashanti, etc.- that informed our calypso, pan and many aspects of our Carnival portrayals.
Be sure to view and follow NATT, NALIS, SLNC, and partners’ Social Media channels weekly for events!
